L.A. we’re here for you!
California is our home too and we're heartbroken by all of the devastation from the fires.
Our hearts go out to our friends, family, and everyone affected ❤️🩹
To support our L.A. community, we’re offering FREE peer support to teens and young adults (age 13-30) impacted by the wildfires.
If you’re feeling anxious and overwhelmed, or are struggling to cope with loss, our peers are here to help. Choose someone who feels right to you and connect 1:1 over video, audio, or chat.
You don’t have to face this alone 🫶
FAQ
What is professional peer support?
Peer support means connecting with other young people who have gone through challenges similar to yours and have been trained to help you. Our peer supporters are real people with real experiences—just like you 🫶!
With peer support, you’ll have a safe space to feel seen and heard by someone who actually gets it. We’re here to help with things like anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, eating behaviors, and more. We can offer emotional support and teach valuable skills to help develop your self-awareness, improve your relationships, and work on goals you care about. We can also simply be there to provide a nonjudgmental ear when you need it.
All of our peer supporters complete a rigorous training program that meets state / national standards and receive ongoing supervision from experts and licensed clinicians - all to make sure you’re getting the best care possible. 💓
What is Peers.net?
Peers.net is a mental health service designed specifically with and for teens and young adults (age 13-30). On our telehealth platform you can get 1:1 confidential and non-judgmental support via chat, audio or video from someone who actually understands what it means to struggle with your mental wellbeing, because they’ve been through it themselves ❤️🩹.
What’s even better is that you get to choose your peer supporter based on what matters the most to you, whether that’s a shared identity, background, or a specific challenge you’re experiencing. And remember, you don’t need to find “the one” for all your needs - you can connect with as many peers as you want.
Who is providing the support? How are they trained?
Our peer supporters are a diverse group of young adults (ages 18-35) who have overcome their own challenges and are trained to help you navigate yours 🤝. We know you’re unique, and we believe your support should be too – that’s why we offer filters by life experience and identity to help you find someone who truly gets you 🎯.
Each supporter completes an in-depth training and certification program. Want more deets on our training? Check it out here!
Who can get free peer support and how?
We are offering 10 free support sessions to all teens or young adults (ages 13-30) who have been impacted by the L.A. wildfires.
We accept L.A. Care and other health insurance plans in California (see here for more). Our peer support is always 100% free for eligible members of those plans.
If you are uninsured or on a different health insurance plan that we don’t accept yet, once you’ve used up your 10 free sessions, you can apply for sliding scale payment through our financial aid form. No stress, we'll work with you to find something that works for your wallet 💕
We are committed to welcoming everyone, and never discriminate on the basis of gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, race, color, disability, condition, on any other basis prohibited by federal, state, or local law – and while we currently support teens & young adults between age 13 and 30, and we hope to expand to even more age groups in the future!
