I want to share my journey, including how the lack of validation from my family impacted my self-esteem, leading me to seek approval from others, and how I eventually learned to build confidence by finding my own self-worth.</p><h2><strong>The Need for Validation</strong></h2><p>Growing up, I often felt like I was living in the shadows, yearning for recognition and approval that never seemed to come. My family, though loving in their own way, rarely expressed praise or validation. This lack of acknowledgment made me question my worth and abilities. I was like a chameleon, changing myself to fit in with different groups, avoiding conflict, and saying what I thought others wanted to hear. I was terrified of rejection and went to great lengths to avoid it. I sought out friendships and relationships where I could feel needed, even if those relationships weren’t healthy for me.</p><p>This desperate search for approval left me feeling empty and unfulfilled. No matter how much validation I received from others, it was never enough to fill the void I felt inside. I was constantly anxious, fearing that if I didn’t live up to others’ expectations, I would be abandoned. My self-esteem was fragile, and easily shattered by criticism or disapproval. I realized that I had given away my power, allowing others to dictate my worth.</p><h2><strong>Building Resilience: Turning Inward for Self-Worth</strong></h2><p>The turning point in my journey came when I realized that I needed to stop looking outward for validation and start looking inward. I understood that true self-esteem comes from within, not from the approval of others.
